Nocturne Electro Acrylic Knife
By: Chained Desires October 20 2026
When I started hunting for a safer alternative props for edgeplay that didn't require me to dull my blades, I didn't expect to find acrylic knives. I certainly didn't expect them to come with an extra "shock" factor, either. Chaotic Kink's Electro Knives line immediately caught my attention, so you know I had to pick one up to satisfy my curiosity. Today, I'm bringing you the Nocturne Electro.
If you're wondering why the Chaotic Kink reviews are coming out faster than my standard insertable product reviews, it's simple. All three blades are external stimulation devices, so I was able to test them simultaneously rather than working through them one at a time.

A little about the company
Chaotic Kink got its start in late 2018, growing out of the combined talents of Spectre and Chaotic Eva. Spectre came into the partnership with a background in robotics and a long history of making his own toys, bringing the engineering and mechanical side of things to the workshop. Eva brought her background in fine arts and commercial design, along with her leatherworking and experience working with materials such as reclaimed wood and resin. Put those two together and you get a workshop where the toys apparently aren't allowed to be satisfied with looking ordinary.
The pair originally started making toys for their local community, then moved from Orange County, California, to Brooklyn in 2019. From there, Chaotic Kink expanded its selection and reach while continuing to develop its own designs and manufacturing work. Today, the business also offers parts and materials for DIYers, collaborates with other makers, takes on custom and wholesale work, and teaches events at local venues.
Design is clearly a big part of the Chaotic Kink approach. The brand leans toward unusual shapes, coordinated sets, reclaimed and mixed materials, and designs that aren't trying to blend into the sea of mass-produced BDSM gear. Their own design philosophy essentially says that traditionalism can go sit in the corner while they experiment with something more interesting. They also state that their artwork is created without AI.
Chaotic Kink has been part of the wider kink community for a number of years. Their public history includes appearances at NYC-area kink events, collaborations with other adult makers and businesses, and a feature on the Alternative Play podcast in December 2020, where the company was discussed in the context of artistic and inventive BDSM toy making.
A Safety Disclaimer About Edge play and e-stim devices
One of the things that makes these props interesting is the material. Instead of using actual steel blades, Chaotic Kink precision laser-cuts its acrylic knives. The cutting process leaves a small tactile burr along the edge, giving the blades a scratchy sensation without creating a sharpened steel cutting edge. That doesn't make them risk-free, particularly around pointed sections or when pressure is involved. Acrylic can break, and a prop without a sharpened metal edge can still cause injury. It changes the risks involved, but it doesn't eliminate them.
Edgeplay carries inherent risks, so use of this item is entirely at your own discretion. Play within your comfort level, and remember that this type of play depends on communication, consent, and control. Know your partner's boundaries, establish a safeword or another clear stop signal, and understand what your equipment can and cannot do.
Adding electricity brings another set of risks. High-frequency e-stim devices must never be used in a way that sends current across the chest or through the heart. Avoid the heart, front of the neck, and throat, and don't place conductive toys where the current could travel through the body along an unsafe path.
E-stim is not suitable for everyone. People with pacemakers or certain other implanted electronic devices, certain heart conditions, epilepsy, or who are pregnant should not use these devices. Avoid areas containing metallic implants, and consult a qualified medical professional if you're unsure whether e-stim is appropriate for you.
Remember, edgeplay and e-stim are only fun when everyone involved gets to walk away safely. Know your equipment, know your anatomy, and don't let the excitement of trying something new override basic safety.
Delivery
The package from Chaotic Kink arrived in a plain white shipping box, keeping everything nice and discreet. Inside, the knives were wrapped in perforated shipping paper. The first things out were some contact cards. The first was a business card, followed by a couple of thank-you cards containing safety, cleaning, and usage information.
Next came the knives themselves, each wrapped in black tissue paper.
First out was the Extra Large Nocturne. It's roughly the size of one of my hunting knives, although a fraction of the weight.
Second out of the box was the Witchlight. This one is around the size of a standard pocket knife. Compared with the Extra Large Nocturne, it's considerably more compact.
Lastly, we have the Nocturne Electro from their Electro Knives collection. Unlike the other knives, this one is intended to be used with a neon wand and Power Tripper attachment, allowing the knife to give off an extra bit of bite during use. Because apparently, pulling out a knife in the bedroom didn't have enough shock factor. Like the Witchlight, this blade is about the size of a pocket knife.

Measurements
The Nocturne Electro measures seven and three-quarter inches, with a four-and-one-quarter-inch blade. The blade edge is 3.13 mm thick. Its width varies along the blade, measuring 22.87 mm at the base from edge to spine, 23.37 mm around the middle accent point, 20 mm below that, 19.49 mm at the accent point near the tip, and 17.72 mm just below it.
The blade has a wavy profile, with accent points breaking up the curves on the spine. The transparent red acrylic sits over a metal backing on one side, giving the blade a mirrored appearance beneath the red surface. Viewed from the opposite side, the backing appears white.
The handle is made from black resin, with oval engraved details on the handle plates and around the hole near its base. Red paint highlights some of the detailing, while silver-coloured screws hold the prop together. The screw closest to the blade is marked with a lightning bolt to identify the electrical contact point.
Materials and Maintenance

The Nocturne Electro combines a transparent red acrylic blade with a black resin handle and a thin metal backing on one side of the blade. The acrylic gives it its distinctive appearance, while the conductive side allows it to be used with a compatible e-stim setup.
As with other acrylic knives, this isn't an impact toy. Don't use it as a paddle or slapper, and avoid dropping or bending the blade. Acrylic can break, and a damaged blade shouldn't be used.
For cleaning, the care instructions recommend a mild all-purpose cleaner or disinfectant wipes for the handle. Standard window cleaner on a paper towel is recommended for the mirrored blade surface. Avoid isopropyl alcohol and other harsh solvents, and don't leave the knife exposed to extreme heat for extended periods.
I found that window cleaner on a paper towel worked well, removing residue with a quick wipe and leaving the glossy surface looking clean again.
The included card also has a QR code leading to replacement blades on the company's website, which is worth keeping around if you ever need to look into a replacement.
Special Features
As the name suggests the Nocturne Electro is designed for external e-stim play using a Neon Wand with a Power Tripper attachment, or a compatible violet wand and body contact pad setup. The Power Tripper pad sits against your skin, allowing current to travel through your body to the contact screw on the knife's handle, marked with a lightning bolt. When the conductive part of the blade makes contact with another person, it transfers the sensation.
I use the waistband of my boxers to hold the contact pad in place. The blade's grey-backed conductive section can produce arcs across its surface, but using the flat face makes their location less predictable. The edge offers considerably more control over where the arc appears.
If you're new to electroplay, take a class or seek professional instruction before trying it. Follow the instructions for your equipment, start at the lowest setting, and make sure you understand the safety considerations before getting started.

Testing and Performance
Ease of Use: 4/5
The Nocturne Electro is easy to handle, and the lightning bolt markings identify the contact screw used to transfer current into the blade. With my Kinklab Neon Wand and Power Tripper setup, the process was straightforward: the Power Tripper sends current through my body, and touching the marked screw transfers it into the knife.
The main thing to pay attention to during use is where the electrical arc appears. My Nocturne Electro has a white-backed conductive section. The entire backed section can produce arcs, but using the flat face makes their placement less predictable. The arc follows the closest gap, so you don't always get it exactly where you intended.
Using the edge gives me considerably more control over the arc's placement. Once you understand how the conductive surface behaves, directing the sensation becomes much easier. The knife's lightweight construction also makes it easy to maneuver during play. though the smaller size is a bit restrictive for my taste and i would probably opt for a the XL electro collection in the future.
Sensory Quality: 5/5
Without the e-stim, the Nocturne Electro has considerably less burr along its edge than the other two knives in this collection. That makes the scratchy sensation less pronounced, although the accent points do a good job of snagging the skin. There is still some sensation to work with, but the electrical stimulation is where this knife really shines.
For electrical testing, I chose a play partner with experience using cutting sensations for release and pleasure. I wanted their feedback because they could tell me whether the sensation came close to what they were looking for, rather than simply whether it felt good.
In their experience, the Neon Wand's glass probes, even at the highest setting, produce more of a tickling sensation. They don't do a particularly good job of recreating the sensation they seek when the desire to cut arises. The metal probe that is the Nocturne Electro was a different story. My play partner found it very close to the sensation they were looking for.
We only needed to take the wand to around the medium setting before the sensation essentially matched what my play partner wanted. We didn't need to keep increasing the intensity to get there, which gave us a good indication of what this particular contact surface could offer.
We also compared the Nocturne Electro against using the Power Tripper on its own, allowing the electrical arc to flow from my fingertips. My play partner described the knife as feeling sharper than the Power Tripper alone. That difference, combined with how closely it reproduced the sensation they were seeking, made the Nocturne Electro a particularly interesting piece of equipment to test.
We tried it on their arms, legs, and thighs. I also attempted to test the knife on myself, but that proved impractical with this setup. The Power Tripper needs to send current through my body to electrify the knife. Since I was the one completing that circuit and holding the knife, I couldn't then discharge against my own body. My play partner therefore handled the receiving end of the electrical testing.
Overall Construction: 5/5
The Nocturne Electro combines a transparent red acrylic blade, black resin handle, and mirrored metal backing beneath one side of the blade. The backing appears white when viewed from that side, while the other side has the mirrored appearance visible through the red acrylic. The result is a distinctive finish that suits the knife's design.
The handle has engraved oval details, red-painted accents, and silver-coloured screws. The lightning bolt markings on the contact screw identify the point used to transfer current into the blade.
The knife is very lightweight, which makes it easy to move during play. However, I can understand why some people might want a little more weight from a knife-shaped prop. Chaotic Kink's maker actually addressed this in the comments on my previous review announcement. Earlier versions had 3D-printed handles, and adding steel weights didn't make a significant difference. Worse, the added weight weakened the blade and made it much more likely to break when dropped. Switching to solid resin offered a better balance between weight and durability.
It's clear that the weight wasn't an oversight, but a design problem the maker spent considerable time trying to solve. The finished knife feels well put together, and the electrical contact point is clearly marked.
Ease of Cleaning: 5/5
Cleaning the Nocturne Electro is simple. Chaotic Kink recommends a mild all-purpose cleaner or disinfectant wipes for the handle, and standard window cleaner on a paper towel for the blade. I found that window cleaner did a good job of removing residue and leaving the glossy surface looking clean.

final Thoughts
The Nocturne Electro was an interesting addition to my collection of edgeplay props, particularly because of what it offers beyond the physical sensation of the acrylic blade. Without electricity, the edge has less burr than I expected, though the accent points still catch the skin. With the Neon Wand and Power Tripper, however, the knife offers a much more compelling experience.
The most useful feedback came from my play partner. They found the sensation much closer to what they seek than the tickling feeling produced by the Neon Wand's glass probes, and they preferred it to the sensation from the Power Tripper alone. Reaching that point at around a medium setting made the results even more promising. For someone looking for that particular type of sensation, the difference could be significant.
The lightweight construction still isn't quite what I was looking for, but if I were to buy another Chaotic Kink knife, I'd most likely go for something from their XL Electro collection. The sharper sensation from the electrode combined with the larger blade profile of the XL series might be closer to what I was expecting from this whole experiment.
This isn't a toy I'd recommend treating casually. You need compatible equipment, a proper understanding of e-stim safety, and care when handling the acrylic. But if you already have the equipment and enjoy exploring electrical sensation alongside edgeplay, the Nocturne Electro has plenty to offer.
That all being said the Chaotic Kink Nocturne Electro scored 19/20 giving it a solid 9/10

I am often asked what lube I use for my testing. Honestly, with the amount of monsters, beasts, and fantasy anatomy I put through their paces, I need something that can keep up with me, and Swisok Cum Lubricant has become one of my go-to essentials. It’s thick, creamy, and gives that realistic feel that just makes everything slide into place the way it should.
It’s water-based, body safe, and the pump applicator makes using it stupidly easy, even when you’re already in the middle of wrangling something big. The texture is slick without turning watery and creamy without getting gummy, which is exactly what I need when I’m pushing my limits or breaking in a Lovecraftian horror.
It also comes in two color options. Tied energy is clear blue, cute and fun. My favorite is the realistic cum version, a thick white that adds a visual kick to playtime and just looks right with fantasy toys.
