Egyptian Anubis mask Black and Gold leaf

By: Chained Desires      October 20 2026

I've been watching WorkshopRS for years, drooling over their sleek mask designs and wishing I could afford one of my own. Their Anubis masks in particular had caught my eye, but admiring them from a distance and actually being able to buy one were two very different things.

I already had an Anubis mask that showed no signs of wearing out anytime soon, but I'd been wanting to upgrade for a while.

There was just one problem: the WorkshopRS masks were well outside what I could comfortably spend at any time. So, for years, I kept watching their work, admiring the craftsmanship, and telling myself that one day I'd get one.

Well, that day finally came.

On December 15, 2025, I ordered the Anubis Mask in Black & Gold Leaf. It was still a substantial

purchase, but this was something I'd wanted for years, and I happened to receive $400 for Christmas. When you've spent that long drooling over a design, finally being able to bring one home feels pretty damn good.

The mask arrived in January 2026. Since then, I've worn it for photos and videos and used it in multiple BDSM scenes. With Halloween coming up, it seemed like a good time to finally give this particular jackal some attention. After all it is the season where things go bump in the night.

A little about the company

Founded in 2020 by Rostislav Savoniuk, WorkshopRS is an artisan mask studio specializing in distinctive designs that blend modern technology with traditional hands-on craftsmanship.

The studio's approach combines 3D modelling, scanning, and printing with polyurethane resin casting. Each mask is then finished by hand, with painting, assembly, and fitting completed individually.

WorkshopRS draws inspiration from the transformative nature of masks, from their historical use in ritual and theatre to their modern role in performance, cosplay, and personal expression. Its collection spans original designs featuring dark futurism, cyberpunk aesthetics, and other distinctive styles.

Particular attention is given to comfort and functionality alongside appearance. Internal padding, weight distribution, ventilation, and secure fastening systems are all considered during development, ensuring the masks are designed to be worn rather than simply displayed.

WorkshopRS also emphasizes original design, developing its projects from scratch rather than relying on downloaded 3D models, even when working with concepts inspired by existing fictional universes.

Delivery

The WorkshopRS package arrived in a plain brown shipping box. Opening it, the first thing I pulled out was a red envelope sealed with a WorkshopRS logo sticker.

The mask itself was wrapped in plenty of bubble wrap, and once I got all that out of the way, I finally had my new Anubis in front of me.

And gods, this thing is gorgeous. The black finish looks fantastic, but the real gold leaf is what brings the whole design together. It catches the light beautifully, and the contrast between the black and gold is even better in person.

After admiring the mask, I went back to the red envelope to see what else was included.

Inside, I found a thank-you card featuring promotional artwork and a request to leave a review, along with a WorkshopRS sticker. There was also a printed copy of the safety and handling guidelines, which is handy to have when caring for a piece like this.

The package also included a Christmas card with more promotional artwork and three additional stickers for my promotional wall.

Nothing particularly complicated about the unboxing, but everything arrived protected, and the extra artwork and stickers were a nice touch.

Measurements

The Anubis mask stands approximately fourteen inches tall from the bottom of the face to the tips of the ears. The face itself is about eight and a half inches tall and seven inches wide, with the snout sticking out roughly five inches from the face. The brow is three inches of depth, while the eye openings measure around three inches long by one inch high.

The tall ears and long snout give this mask its jackal-like appearance, with defined nostrils at the end of the nose and sculpted lips around the mouth. The eye openings are covered with black fabric, giving the mask its dark-eyed look while still allowing me to see through them.

The back of the mask is open, with adjustable straps that cross behind the head to keep it in place.

I don’t own a kitchen scale, so I can’t give you an exact weight.

Comparing it with a one-kilogram bag of sugar, I’d put it at around half a kilogram. That’s a rough estimate, but it gives you a general idea of what you’re dealing with.

Materials and Maintenance

The mask is made from resin, painted with acrylics and sealed with a protective lacquer. There's padding along the bridge of the nose and forehead, as well as inside the ears, and the straps are elastic with adjustable buckles.

The gold leaf is a big part of why I wanted this particular mask. I've been watching WorkshopRS's TikTok and Instagram videos for years, including videos showing how they apply the gold leaf.  The contrast between the gold and black looks just as good in person as it did in the photos.

The resin is rigid. The padding is comfortable against my face, even during longer sessions, and the straps have held up well too.

WorkshopRS recommends cleaning the mask with a soft cloth, avoiding chemicals, and keeping it somewhere dry and out of direct sunlight. With the gold leaf, I'd follow those instructions rather than risk damaging the finish.

I've had mine for nearly a year now, and the finish, padding and straps are all holding up without any problems and looking as good as the day i unboxed it.

Testing and Performance

Fit and Comfort: 5/5

My new Anubis mask is smaller than the one I previously wore, but I actually find the fit very comfortable. It sits snugly against my face without putting pressure on any particular spot, and the edges are smooth enough that I don't have to worry about them digging into my skin.

The padding along the bridge of the nose and forehead helps with that, and there's padding inside the ears as well. The mask isn't flexible, so getting a comfortable fit comes down to how it sits on your face and how you adjust the straps. Thankfully, I haven't had any problems with mine.

I wore it for a six-hour session with a couple of my partners, and it stayed comfortable from beginning to end. That's a decent stretch of time to spend wearing a mask, especially during a scene, and I never felt the need to take it off just to give my face a break. Fit will vary from person to person, but it's worked very well for me.

Ease of Use: 5/5

The straps cross over at the back in an X shape, with adjustable buckles in the corners to get the fit right. They're easy enough to adjust, and once I've got them sitting where I want them, putting the mask on and taking it off is straightforward.

The other thing I appreciate is that it stays where I put it. I've worn it during scenes without having to keep readjusting it or stopping to pull it back into place. The straps have enough stretch to make getting the mask on and off easy, while still holding it securely once it's fitted.

There's nothing particularly complicated about the setup, which suits me just fine. I can get ready without fussing with the mask every time I want to use it.

Visibility: 4/5

The eye openings are covered with black fabric, giving the mask that solid black-eyed appearance. The fabric does affect how clearly I can see, and my peripheral vision is reduced by roughly fifty percent. I can still see through it, but I have to turn my head more to check what's around me rather than relying on my peripheral vision.

For how I use the mask, this hasn't been a major problem. I knew the black-eyed look came with some restriction in visibility, and I'd rather have that appearance than clear eye openings that show my eyes through the mask. It's a trade-off that comes with this style, and one I'm happy to make.

Breathability: 5/5

For something that covers the face, the mask is surprisingly comfortable to wear for long stretches. The back is open, and the sides aren't sealed against the face, so there's room for air to circulate. The fabric over the eyes doesn't leave me feeling like I'm struggling to get enough air, either.

During my six-hour session, I didn't find the mask hot or stuffy. I was comfortable wearing it for the full session without needing to take it off to cool down.

The mask also leaves my ears uncovered, which means my hearing isn't affected. I can hear my partners talking to me normally, rather than having to deal with muffled voices or constantly ask them to repeat themselves. That might seem like a small thing, but it's useful when you're wearing a mask in scenes that require safe words or to hear requests.

Construction and Finish: 5/5

I've had this mask for nearly a year now, and it's held up well. The straps are still secure, the padding hasn't given me any trouble, and the finish is still looking good. I haven't noticed anything coming loose or wearing down through regular use.

The sculpting is another detail I appreciate. The nostrils and lips around the mouth are easy to miss in photos, but they're a huge step up from the square flat I have come to know with my other mask. The elongated snout and tall ears give it the jackal-like face I wanted, and the details help bring the design together.

Then there's the gold leaf. I've followed WorkshopRS on TikTok and Instagram for years and watched videos of the process they use to apply it, so getting to see that finish on a mask of my own is pretty satisfying. The gold stands out against the black without making the whole thing look overly busy, and it's a big part of what drew me to this particular version.

Nearly a year in, I haven't had any problems with the construction or finish. It's been used for scenes, photos, and video, and it's still in good shape.

Aesthetic Appeal: 5/5

The black and gold combination is what caught my eye in the first place. I've been watching WorkshopRS make masks for years, and the Anubis designs were always ones I kept coming back to. Finally having one of my own was worth the wait.

The gold leaf catches the light nicely, especially in photos and video, and the tall ears and long snout give the mask a striking appearance. There's also more detail around the nose and mouth than you might notice in the product photos, which makes it worth looking at up close to get the full effect.

My partners have been enthusiastic about the upgrade, too. When I'm not wearing it, the mask has a permanent spot on display above my bed. It looks good there, but it's not just decoration. I use it in BDSM scenes, and I want to work it into upgrading one of my TikTok personas and potentially some adult content on X and Bluesky as well.

After years of admiring these masks online, I'm getting plenty of enjoyment out of finally owning one.

final Thoughts

After years of watching WorkshopRS videos and drooling over their Anubis designs, finally having one of my own has been a treat. The mask looks just as good in person as it does in their videos, and that gold leaf really is the cherry on top. Against the black resin, it gives the mask a gorgeous finish.

Of course, a pretty face is only half the fun when you're actually wearing it. This mask fits snugly, and the padded bridge of the nose and forehead make a big difference when you're keeping it on for hours. I've worn it through extended sessions without any pressure points, and the cross straps keep it where it belongs while I'm busy with my partners. I can breathe easily, hear what's going on around me, and get on with the show without constantly fiddling with the fit. The fabric over the eyes does cut down my peripheral vision, but I can still see enough to move around and do what I need to do. For the way I use this mask, that's a trade-off I'm happy with.

Nearly a year in, the resin, finish, gold leaf, and straps have all held up without giving me trouble. I still get a kick out of having something I've admired for so long hanging above my bed when it's not being used. It looks good on display, but I'm much happier when I get to put it to work.

And naturally, WorkshopRS had to give this little fox something else to drool over. On December 1, 2025, they launched their Cyberpunk Anubis mask. I only started seeing videos of it about a week after I'd placed my order for this one. I hadn't even finished celebrating finally ordering mine, and there was already another Anubis catching my eye. The Cyberpunk design is more than double the price of this one, so for now, I'll have to admire it from afar and hope that an even bigger Christmas surprise finds its way to me someday. Until then, I'll be keeping up with WorkshopRS and whatever gorgeous designs they decide to come out with next.

That all being said the WorkshopRS Anubis Mask scored 29/30 giving it a solid 10/10
